The abstract oil paintings are part of a series completed over the past 2 years. Some of the series is not included as they were in public display before photographing for this website. The unifying theme is one of water , but they are a reflection of the physical joy of working with oil paint in a free manner to capture colour and movement. Some are of imagined seascapes and landscapes of Inishowen, Donegal. Others are from the Phoenix Park Dublin, and rock pools in Cornwall. The mediums used are oil and oil pigment sticks on cotton or linen canvases. The smaller oils are ideas intended to be worked up into much larger paintings. The titles for most of the oils are from the poetry of the Inishowen poet, Nina Quigley – to whom I am most grateful.
