About the Artist
Liam Quigley is an Irish Artist based in Dublin. His style is a vibrant mix of contemporary and modern art that stems from a love of nature and colour. Born in 1952 in Buncrana , Donegal, Liam moved to Dublin in 1970 to study medicine in UCD. It was during these years that a lifelong interest in art developed from visits to the Hugh Lane Gallery, The National Gallery and those wonderful Independant Artist exhibitions. Though largely self taught, Liam attended night classes in the NCAD firstly in Kildare St. and then Thomas Street and also weekend workshops in Trinity and Dunlaoghaire College of Art. Liam Quigley has had work chosen for the Oireachtas Exhibitions twice in early the 1980s. Currently, much of his work is in private collections and on public display. As a working doctor, the mix of Pastel and Charcoal provide adaptable mediums that are easy to work with , leave temporarily and return to with little trouble. For oil work , for the same reason, Liam will often use oil pigment sticks with their ease of preparation , their immediacy and vibrancy. Following the success of his recent exhibition in Farmleigh Liam had the following to say:
“Thank you to all who helped and supported my recent exhibition in the Cowshed Gallery, Farmleigh. It was a realised ambition of mine and thankfully a success. I am now delighted to announce the launch of my official website designed to display my previous work and work that is currently available. If you see a painting that you like or would like to commission a piece of work, please get in touch.“
